Dear Rising Tide Families,
As you may already know, this morning Governor Baker has ordered all non-essential businesses and organizations to close their physical workplaces from 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 24 through 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7.
As we begin the second week of the extended closure, I want to provide another update to families.
As you may already know, this morning Governor Baker has ordered all non-essential businesses and organizations to close their physical workplaces from 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 24 through 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7.
With this order, we will have another window of time tomorrow, March 24, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, for families to get a Chromebook loaner or get student materials.
Student Learning This Week
This week, students should continue to practice skills and explore topics for each course through Google Classroom. I encourage all students, grades 5-12, to keep thinking and growing as Communicators, Investigators, Self-Directed Learners, and Community Stewards. Students can show their commitment to growing as learners by communicating with teachers through Google Classrooms and by applying the Schoolwide Objectives to helping their own families at home through these unusual and challenging circumstances.
By the end of the day on Wednesday, March 25, each Advisor will set up a Google Classroom for each Advisory to increase opportunities for students to stay connected through the important relationships in our school community.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education now also has a page dedicated to Educational Resources for Students and Families.
Community Stewards
I want to thank our Science Team for working over the weekend and this morning to donate any of our protective gloves, masks, and eyewear to BID Plymouth and Beth Israel in Boston. It is another reminder of how thoughtful and resourceful our Rising Tide family can be.
I encourage each of our community members to keep thinking about ways to support others in our school community and broader community through this unprecedented time.
Food Services
In addition to the “grab and go” breakfast and lunch available at Hedge Elementary School each weekday, there are food distribution sites throughout our region during this extended closure. Please refer to Project Bread’s School Closure Meal Information site that shows locations for student and family meals throughout Massachusetts.
Students in the News
For the second year in a row, students from Rising Tide have won the Congressional App Challenge. See the news article from Old Colony Memorial here.
Messages from Mr. Post and Mr. Simons
This afternoon, Mr. Post and Mr. Simons sent messages to students in the Middle School and the Upper School. You can see their messages here.
I will be in touch again later this week with any new updates.
Sincerely,
Michael O’Keefe
Head of School
