Rising Tide Reopening Survey

Dear Rising Tide Students and Families,

I hope you all are finding ways to enjoy these summer days with your families and other loved ones. We just finished running two successful weeks of our summer enrichment courses with safety guidelines, and it was wonderful to have students at Rising Tide again, creating beautiful photographs, woodworking projects, and paintings.

Our Re-Entry Workgroup, Crisis Response Team, and Leadership Team have continued planning and preparing for the upcoming school year, guided by the goals I shared with families on June 10:
  1. Prioritize safety, support, wellness, and understanding for the entire school community
  2. Implement Rising Tide’s Key Design Elements:
    1. Provide a strong academic program that fosters the development of skills
    2. Provide opportunities for students to connect to the Plymouth region
    3. Provide students with a strong school community
  3. Hold strong to Rising Tide’s identity through the challenges
Since Initial Fall School Reopening Guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) was released on June 25, we have been preparing to meet the health and safety requirements for in-person learning, conducting a feasibility study of our building and campus for in-person learning, and planning for the three models for reopening schools: in-person learning with new safety requirements, a hybrid of in-person and remote learning, and the continuation of remote learning. DESE has asked all schools and districts for these three plans to ensure continuity of learning throughout the school year, even if circumstances change. Please keep in mind that families will have the option for their children to continue remote learning as a Rising Tide student for any segment of the 2020-2021 school year regardless of the primary model we implement.

Within the last two weeks, DESE has released additional guidance: DESE Reopening Frequently-Asked Questions, and Protocols for Responding to COVID-19 Scenarios. On Wednesday night, further guidance that we have been eagerly awaiting was released: Fall Reopening K-12 Transportation Guidance and Fall Reopening Facilities and Operations Guidance. We are still awaiting further guidance for after-school athletics and extracurricular programming.

Next week, I will be co-hosting with Caryn Maciel, this year’s leader of the Rising Tide Parent Group, two Zoom presentation sessions for families about our safety preparations, our feasibility study, and key elements of our draft plans for each of the three models for reopening school; there will be an opportunity for questions and answers at each session. The same presentation will be offered twice:

Wednesday, July 29 at 6:00 pm
Thursday, July 30 at 10:00 am

Please help us refine our planning by sharing your thoughts, as of this week in July, regarding the reopening of school through the following survey. Follow the link below for a few short questions which should only take 1-2 minutes to complete:

Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
